Department of languages was established in 1958.It has been blessed with genius staff such as Prof Bhave Sir, Prof Chavhan Sir, Prof Khan Sir, Prof Thakare Madam, Prof. Hebbar Sir, Dr. Itewad Sir, Dr. Gaikwad Sir and Prof BarabdeMadam.Recently stalwart and expert in Marathi Dr Itewad Sir is headed our department leading to the most lofty position among all other departments.All teachers since establishment of department in Shri Shivaji Science College were and are expert in teaching and making their subjects the importance in this college.The contribution of all teachers in the field of research is notable and praiseworthy
The gem of our department Prof. Khan Sir who has translated the book `Panipat `is written in Marathi by Viswas Patil into English Language.The second gem of our department is Dr. Gaikwad who is Ph.D supervisor and under his guidance one student doing his research work. Not only he cracked NPTEL exam with 83% but he also completed Online Graduate certificate course in The Teaching of English at English and Foreign Language University,Hydrabad . The contribution of every teacher in research is praiseworthy and noble.All teachers play the role in shaping students personality and development.The students of our college are the jems and the diamonds who always bring laurels to college such as Sakshi Pawar, RutujaHarane and Shreya khalokar

The purpose behind the introduction of this department is inculcating human values among the students and leading them to knowledge of higher and more interesting thing.The second purpose of this department is to enhance the students` communication skills. It is found that in this global era man wants to be cospolitian but main hurdle in his nobal aim is his communication skills. By the introducing languages to the students this purpose in some extent must be fulfilled.
