Introduction:
The Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with IBase Electrosoft Pvt. Ltd. and catalyzed by DBT Star College (Strengthening Component), successfully organized a one-week skills-based training program on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Python Programming from 10th March to 17th March 2025. The program aimed to equip participants with fundamental and advanced knowledge of IoT and Python, enabling them to develop real-world applications in the domain of smart technologies.
As Department of Computer science has been recognized as DBT Star Department by Education Ministry India, this workshop catalysed under DBT Star College Project. This workshop is a collaborative activity along with iBase Solution Pvt. Ltd. Amravati.
The inaugural ceremony commenced at 11:00 AM with an opening address by Dr. M. M. Bhonde, Head, Department of Computer Science. The host welcomed the participants and outlined the significance of big data in today’s digital landscape.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed IQAC, Coordinator of college Dr. S. P. Ingole as a President of Inaugural function of training program, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary skills and technology-driven education in today’s rapidly evolving digital world. The guests appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to make the most of this opportunity by actively participating throughout the training.
The trainer and resource person Mr. Nakul Deshmukh, Director, iBase Electrosoft Pvt. Ltd., Amravati for the program were also introduced during the session by Dr. U. S. Junghare, Department Project Coordinator, DBT Star giving the participants an overview of the expertise they would benefit from in the coming days. Resource person was felicitated by the hand of president of inaugural function by offering sampling.
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Y. V. Hushare, Department Project Coordinator, DBT Star expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, trainers, and participants for their support and enthusiastic presence.
The function set a positive and enthusiastic tone for the week-long training sessions, which promise to offer a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exposure in IoT and Python programming.

Day wise Key Highlights of the Workshop:
Day 1: Inaugural Session & Introduction to IoT
• Formal inaugural ceremony with dignitaries, faculty, and participants.
• Overview of IoT: Concepts, architecture, scope, and future trends.
• Introduction to IoT hardware components: sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers.
• Interactive session on real-world applications of IoT in smart cities, healthcare, agriculture, etc.
Day 2: Introduction to Python Programming
• Basics of Python programming: syntax, variables, data types, and operators.
• Hands-on practice with control structures, loops, and functions.
• Real-time coding exercises to strengthen programming logic.
• Emphasis on why Python is ideal for IoT applications.
Day 3: Advanced Python & Sensor Integration
• Understanding Python libraries relevant to IoT (e.g., time, random, GPIO, requests).
• Introduction to file handling, exception handling, and modular programming.
• Practical session: Interfacing sensors with microcontrollers using Python.
• Building a simple project: Reading sensor data and displaying output.
Day 4: Microcontroller Programming & IoT Communication
• Deep dive into Arduino/Raspberry Pi programming basics.
• Configuring and using GPIO pins, serial communication, and input/output operations.
• Hands-on session: Data collection from sensors and transmitting to cloud/server.
• Use of tools like Arduino IDE, Python IDEs, and simulators.
Day 5: Cloud Integration & IoT Project Development
• Introduction to IoT cloud platforms (e.g., ThingSpeak, Blynk, Firebase).
• Workshop on sending sensor data to the cloud and visualizing it.
• Team-based mini project development: Smart environment monitoring, automation, etc.
• Review and refinement of projects with trainer guidance.
Day 6: Project Presentation & Feedback
• Presentation of IoT projects by participants in groups.
• Peer review and evaluation by faculty and experts.
• Discussion and feedback session: Challenges, learnings, and outcomes.
• Closing remarks and motivation for future learning.
Day 7: Valedictory Function
• Summary of the week’s activities and achievements.
• Sharing of experiences by participants and trainers.
• Distribution of certificates of participation.
• Valedictory address by chief guest/principal.
• Vote of thanks and formal conclusion of the program.
Feedback and Question & Answer Session:
We received healthy response from the students through their feedback. Total 42 students give their feedback, more than 90 percent students said that training program contents were excellent, Contents are nicely delivered by resource person and the training program was useful for them which enhance the learning experience and growing importance of IoT and Python programming in various fields.
The feedback session was conducted on the concluding day of the training program. Participants from B.Sc. III and B.C.A. III students, shared their experiences and insights about the week-long training program. The overall response was overwhelmingly positive.
