Activity Report:

Introduction:
The Department of Computer Science organized a one-day workshop on "Big Data Application Development Using MATLAB" on Saturday’24-August-2024 for the batch of B.C.A. III-year students. This workshop was designed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical skills in handling big data and application development using MATLAB, preparing students for real-world challenges in their field.
As Department of Computer science has been recognized as DBT Star Department by Education Ministry India, this workshop catalysed under DBT Star College Project. This workshop is a collaborative activity along with iBase Solution Pvt. Ltd. Amravati.
The inaugural ceremony commenced at 11:00 AM with an opening address by Dr. M. M. Bhonde, Head, Department of Computer Science. The host welcomed the participants and outlined the significance of big data in today’s digital landscape.
Dr. D. D. Khedkar, College Coordinator-DBT Star Project has highlighted the role of DBT Star Project for organizing such fruitful activities for the development of skills among students. He also emphasises on importance of big data analytics in various sectors, including finance, healthcare, and technology.
Following the inaugural speeches, Mr. Y.V. Hushare, Department Project Coordinator, DBT Star has provided an overview of the workshop agenda on:
• Introduction to Big Data Concepts
• Data Manipulation and Analysis using MATLAB
• Developing Applications for Data Visualization
• Case Studies on Big Data Solutions
The inaugural ceremony concluded with Presidential Address by Dr. G. V. Korpe, Principal, Shri, Shivaji Science College, Amravati who has expressed gratitude to the speakers, organizers for their contributions and especially participant students for their actively presence to make the event successful. The participant students were encouraged by Principal to apply the knowledge gained in their respective fields.
The resource persons for this workshop were Mr. Aditya Badhe and Mr. Ombhushan U. Adokar trainers from the organization iBase Solutions Pvt. Ltd. The resource person underlined the role of MATLAB in simplifying complex data analysis and visualization, making it accessible for users at all levels.
The vote of thanks for the workshop on “Big Data Application Development Using MATLAB” was delivered by Coordinator of the workshop Dr. U.S. Junghare at the conclusion of the event. This session aimed to acknowledge and express gratitude to all individuals and organizations that contributed to the success of the workshop. The vote of thanks effectively encapsulated the spirit of gratitude and appreciation for everyone involved in the workshop. It served as a fitting conclusion to a successful event, leaving participants motivated to implement what they learned and to maintain the connections made.

Objectives:
• Understand big data and its applications: To provide participants with a foundational understanding of big data, including its definition, characteristics, and significance in various industries.
• Information about big data applications using MATLAB: To offer practical experience in developing big data applications using MATLAB, including data import, manipulation, and analysis techniques.
• Gain the knowledge of working with MATLAB: To familiarize students with MATLAB as a versatile tool for data analysis, emphasizing its capabilities in handling large datasets effectively.
• To introduce the fundamentals of big data analytics to undergraduate students.
• To demonstrate the capabilities of MATLAB in handling and processing large datasets.
• To provide practical training on developing big data applications using MATLAB tools and functions.


Key Highlights of the Workshop:
Session I:
o Introduction of Big Data and Its application using MATLAB: The resource person of workshop delivered a comprehensive introduction to big data concepts and demonstrated how exactly the MATLAB can be utilized for analysing and visualizing large datasets.
o Technical Sessions: The students were introduced to the data analysis and visualization capabilities of MATLAB. They learned about data preprocessing, statistical analysis, and how to create interactive visualizations.
Session II:
o Working with MATLAB: The participant students were engaged in a practical lab session where they developed their own big data applications using MATLAB. This session was particularly well-received for its practical orientation and interactive nature.
o Student Engagement: The workshop facilitated an engaging learning environment, with students actively participating in discussions and practical exercises.
Feedback and Question & Answer Session:

We received healthy response from the students through their feedback. Total 85 students give their feedback, more than 80% students said that workshop contents were excellent, Contents are nicely delivered by resource person and the workshop was useful for them which enhance the learning experience and growing importance of big data in various fields. The one-day workshop on Big Data Application Development using MATLAB was a resounding success, fulfilling its objectives and providing students with valuable skills and knowledge. The hands-on approach, combined with theoretical insights, created an engaging learning environment that encouraged exploration and creativity. Participants left with a greater appreciation for big data's role in various industries and a strong foundation in MATLAB, positioning them well for future studies and careers in data analytics.
The Department of Computer Science looks forward to hosting more workshops and initiatives that empower students with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly data-driven world. Feedback from participants indicated high levels of satisfaction, and many expressed interests in further training opportunities in big data and MATLAB, highlighting the workshop's impact on their academic and professional aspirations.

Summary:
The one-day workshop on "Big Data Application Development Using MATLAB" aimed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge in handling and analyzing large datasets. The event attracted a group of enthusiastic B.Sc. final year students, providing them with practical insights into the field of big data and its applications.
The One Day Workshop on Big Data Application Development using MATLAB was a resounding success, fostering a collaborative environment for learning and innovation. The event provided participants with valuable skills to advance their careers in data analytics.
For this workshop total 118(Online 99 and on spot 19) students registered among them 91 students were present for the workshop.
The workshop on "Big Data Application Development Using MATLAB" successfully met its objectives by providing students with valuable knowledge and practical skills. It enhanced their understanding of big data technologies and prepared them for future challenges in this dynamic field. The Department of Computer Science plans to organize similar workshops in the future to continue supporting student learning and development in emerging technologies.
